These photos are from our trip to Assisi. It is another hilltop city in the center of Italy with evidence of Roman Empire influene. This is also where St. Francis of Assisi was and is buried.
This is taken overlooking an old Roman amphitheater. All you can really see anymore is the basic shape of the structure since the current buildings were build on top of it as a foundation. It's circular like the Colluseum in Rome, but much smaller.
Paul, Sue, Jonny & dad looking out over the valley below
Taken in front of La Rocca Maggiore, a castle at the top of the hill
Jonny walking through a sea of treasures inside the castle. He loves rocks!
Walking along the defense walls with more rocks!
Grandma Sue inside the central tower
Jonny walking an endless core of the defense wall
Here we are on top of the defense wall, overlooking the valley. JJ, Paul, Sue, Mim and Jonny. We are smiling, but worrying that the wind doesn't blow the camera off of the flag pole where we have it cleverly balanced. I realize this in the only picture where you can see Jonny's face. This is because the photographer was also largely his personal transport.
I'm not sure why, but I just love this picture. Maybe it's because it's of my beautiful wife!
